PERSONAL INFORMATION

Hi there and welcome to my site. In short, my main business is computers, audio and video. I keep lots of guiney pigs and am a true movie buff.

My computer life started in 1983, when I got a Sinclair ZX81 for my birthday and immediately started programming, in BASIC (it actually started a year earlier, when a good friend of mine got his and I could be found at his house most of the time).
Exactly a year later, I upgraded to a ZX Spectrum and started programming in assembler, which I used up to 1995.
In 1991, I bought a second-hand PC, which kept breaking and I switched over to an Amiga 500 after 3 months. In 1993, I bought a new PC, a '386, just to be able to play DOOM.

I graduated in computer science at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam in 1995 with a thesis on realtime network management and am currently employed as Security Officer at KPN, the largest Dutch Internet access and service provider, where I run the KPN-CERT security team among other things.

Together with Jeroen Kwast and Frank Vierstra, I also run a software company named ThunderWare Research Center (which was registered in 1984 as Thunderteam and renamed in 1992).

I've been a devoted programmer at several different platforms for the last 29 years (see my softography), although I only develop for Linux these days. The languages I prefer are C and assembly.
Good programmers are hard to find, so I compiled a list of rules to be known to become one (ok, ok, so I stole it from usenet *pout*).

[World of Spectrum]

Most of my work relates to the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, so this machine gets the most attention.

[Doom]

For those of you that still haven't got enough of DOOM (like myself), you can still download the latest versions of my widely used interfaces (the development team at id Software used EasyWAD themselves!) here:

[The ESA bods didn't like this prank and actually filed C&D claim #52835546! Hahahaha, I'm still laughing!]

MY FRIENDS

I'm not much into greeting people, but I couldn't get away with forgetting these people:
Although they'll never read this, I must greet my old and new guiney pigs as well, as they make life more fun.
